Thanks for asking, instead of joining the mud throwing like many seem to do. I appreciate that. The facts: A. There have been lab tests with over 1500 TPS sustained throughput B. The XRPL currently handles between 10 and 100 TPS, public info: https://livenet.xrpl.org
C. The XRPL (and entire crypto space) have seen busier periods (Trust Line + airdrop craze, bull markets) and I looked at a few ledgers with over 1k txs, at ~4sec. close time that’s at least 250 TPS.
D. While the XRPL core technology may be able to handle 1500 TPS in a controlled lab environment, it is likely that today’s livenet will not be able to sustain this number: not all validators run on hardware/internet connections able to scale to this number.
E. While these numbers seem low, many other networks showing higher TPS count validations / tx votes as transactions. This skews the numbers. XRPL TPS only counts actual transactions, while much more is happening behind the scenes.
F. The entire TPS discussion is beyond useless: if there’s more adoption, smart people will join forces and improve the technology. It makes no sense to over-engineer for the sake of unused TPS. Let’s get real mainstream blockchain (XRPL as a rails) adoption first.
